About HER Exercise Physiology.

  • Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP's) are university qualified applied health professionals who use their extensive knowledge and skills to help retrain the body to work correctly again. We use exercise to help prevent and/or manage chronic and/or complex health conditions.

  • Hi, I am Courtenay, the founder and head exercise physiologist at HER Exercise Physiology.

    ​I am deeply passionate about women’s health and how exercise can be used to treat and prevent so many different female health concerns.

    I believe every woman should be able to access professional help in healing her body at any stage of the female lifecycle. I prioritise educating all women about the importance of looking after their health for the long term, correctly executing movement and using resistance training at every stage throughout the female lifecycle.

    ​I am particularly passionate about exercise and incontinence and my goal is to help every woman be 'pee free' during day to day life and during exercise. This stems from my history as a crossfitter and dreading double unders, experiencing stress incontinence as an early 20 year old.

    ​This was when I realised urinary incontinence wasn't just something pregnant and post partum women experienced and was actually VERY common issue among women in general.

  • I started HER Exercise Physiology because there is a huge gap within the health care and fitness industry when it comes to training women correctly and bridging the gap between rehab and strength training.

    ​I see so many older women suffering from issues that stemmed from pregnancy that my goal is to communicate to women the importance of addressing pelvic floor dysfunction and abdominal separation in the post partum period and not just live with it. I believe it will not only build self confidence, but will help build a strong resilient body to enjoy life, be able to play with your children but also to help reach your health and fitness based goals.

    Using an evidence based approach I endeavor to empower all my clients with the knowledge and resources to create healthy exercise habits that are specific to them, grading the exercise program to reach their individual goals and meet their specific needs.

    I shifted my whole face to face clinic to the virtual world in the hope to be able to help and reach as many women as possible from the comfort of their own home. It has made so many of my clients lives easier scheduling in consultations and juggling their crazy lives and gives them the power to see how easily exercise can fit in with their life at home.
